St. Patrick's Day Welcome Sign

St. Patrick's Day is about a month away, so it's time for some holiday crafting:

This was done the same way as the valentine welcome sign.  We used little wooden rectangles covered with paper.  Add some glitter foam letters.  Then glue your rectangles onto a long piece of ribbon.  We added a loop at the top for hanging, a bow because it's cute, and a little bit of gold ribbon between each of the blocks.  On the W and the E at the end we added a rhinestone clover.  Cute, easy & cheap!  My favorite combo for a quick craft.

So far I've only done one of these for Valentine's and St. Patrick's.  I'm thinking I will add a few more to my collection this year...maybe Easter & something for summer?  We'll keep you posted.

Valentine Word Block - Hugs

I love to make word blocks.  They are quick, easy, and most of the time turn out to be nice decorations.  Since Valentine's Day is coming quickly (& I needed something for the other side of my entry table) this is what I decided on.  

All you need is a cut 2x4 - I just went out into the garage and found a scrap that looked like it was the right size.

Paint the wood any color.

Add scrapbook paper to the front if you want - I love this textured paper I found at Michaels last year! Sand the edges of the paper for a distressed look.

For the words I found the awesome font here.  Cut it out of vinyl & apply.

I cut a strip of my glitter netting and tied it around the outside. 

I can think of a few other valentine words, so I'll have to make some more!

Welcome Valentine Craft

I love to decorate for holidays.  My mom always had fun decorations for each holiday, and the tradition stuck with me.  The best part about decorating for holidays is making decorations.

I saw a really cute welcome sign at a craft store last year.  It was too expensive for me.  I knew I could make my own version for a lot less money.

I started with unfinished wooden hearts (around 30 cents each).  I covered them with textured scrapbook paper.  Then I added glitter foam letters.  I glued them to a wide piece of ribbon and added a bow at the top.

Much cheaper and a lot more fun!  Later my mom & I made one for St. Patricks Day, but those pictures can wait until after Valentines Day.

5 Dollar 5 Minute Christmas Wreath

Last year after Christmas I bought a wreath on clearance for $2 and never got around to doing anything with it. This year when I pulled out my Christmas decorations I saw and decided I needed to make a new wreath for my front door. I went to the dollar store and bought a tube of ornaments, a glittery bow, and a door hanger that had three ornaments hanging down on ribbon. I arranged everything how I wanted it on the wreath then used my hot glue gun and glued it all in place. It only took me about 5 minutes to make it and it only cost me $5!

This is the finished wreath! I love how it turned out and it looks so good on my front door.

St. Patrick's Welcome Door Hanging Craft

It's almost a week past St. Patrick's Day, but I wanted to post a few of the fun things we did this year.  To make this welcome sign we used unfinished wooden rectangles from Michael's (about 30 cents each).  We added paper, then sanded and distressed the edges.  Next was gold glitter foam alphabet stickers.  Then hot glue the rectangles to cute green ribbon.  We tied a piece of gold ribbon between each letter and added a bow on the top.  On the W and bottom E there is a rhinestone shamrock.  It was a fun, quick craft for under $5.
